Anyone with twitter wanna call out his PR bullshit?
I've already addressed him previously with something else last week IIRC (when he was trying to fluff Starfield's player count like copies sold, and got GOWR's numbers and timeframe wrong to make it seem like Starfield was a bigger success), but at this point these people will do what they want.
Sadly the only sales analyst at this point I feel is actually worth following or trusting is Mat Piscatella. He seems to try keeping it the most neutral, and doesn't fan flames with misleading puff-reporting to make games look like they're doing better than they actually are. That's worth some respect. Chris better be careful, or he'll see himself sliding into Bloomberg Takashi territory :/
FF16 should of just came out on PC at the same time as the PS5 release. Would of helped out SE money problem for sure
4 days of tracking vs Starfield's 12, yet Starfield only placed two spots ahead. Absolute unit differences could be Famitsu-tier (where a few hundred copies gives the edge).
Can you even maths?
FF16 is a main line game in a big franchise that sold below expectations for that franchise.
Starfield is a new IP.
BTW it sold way better than FFXVI that already makes your comment hard to understand
So the Starfield Defense Force has mobilized, I see.
Starfield is as much a "new IP" as Elden Ring was. Nobody's stupid; they knew ER was "Demon's Souls open-world", so it largely benefited from a well-known IP that was already growing healthily before its release. Starfield is essentially "Fallout/TES in space", so it massively benefits from the identity of those two already well-known IP. It's nowhere NEAR the legwork to get known as an actual new IP that's completely divorced from the company's previous efforts, you should know that.
And again, Starfield has 3x the amount of tracking here than FF XVI did. 12 days vs 4 days. It only managed a couple spots ahead. If the console sales splits are anything to go by, the difference between Starfield & FF XVI sales overall could merely be by a few hundreds of units, across physical & digital. We have no way of truly knowing. So claiming it's sold "way better" than FF XVI is just silly. Get some hard numbers first, then make that claim.
He is counting more days to spin the numbers for Starfield. 3 days for FF16 vs 12 for Starfield? Just ridiculous comparison.
FF16 total was never expected to beat Starfield anyway on 1 platform only. Starfield was supposed to be the GOAT with 1m concurrent on Steam, remember that? Nobody was expecting FF16 to do Fallout 4 numbers.
He did the same spin with the Starfield player counts vs GOWR and TOTK sales last week. He reported 6 million players in 2 days for Starfield, which was factually wrong, as it was 6 million across 6 days. And rounded down GOWR's 5.1 million to 5 million, for one week (7 days), when it was actually 4 days.
Caught hella shit in the comments for it, as deserved. These folks are not impervious to criticism when they get things blatantly wrong, and making themselves look very unprofessional in the process.
