Starfield was delayed partly because Xbox has "experienced shipping games too early"

Funny how shamelessly they gave it a release date just to give fans some delusion that 2022 wasn't completely empty
Right until a couple of months beforehand, ridiculous.

I'm certain it doesn't come out by June, even the trailer they released reveals unfinished work. My guess is that they're scrambling to get it out before the end of 2023, but they didn't want to reveal Starfield was way behind schedule along with Redfall, Everwild, Fable, Perfect Dark, State of Decay 2.

Starfield is a holiday release… MS doesn’t lunch big game outside holidays… I don’t know if it is an American thing like Black Friday, etc.

When I say holiday release I mean from late September to December.

I believe Forza is the September/October release and Starfield in November.

Red Fall is probably the mid year release but to be fair I believe it will be 2024… MS will release Forza and Starfield in 2023 and Xbox fans will say the year is stacked 🤷‍♂️

Yea, I agree here .... especially Starfield. I think November seems more realistic.

It simply doesn't matter what they were because that's in the past. Why would Microsoft (or any hardware manufacturer for that matter) spend billions of dollars on an acquisition only to make them available on their competition's platform? Honestly, that would make no sense and wouldn't benefit Microsoft or the Xbox platform and eco-system.

I know, Im just stating its not the same as Nintendo or Playstation exclusives. Nintendo/ Playstation hasnt gone and bought an enture publisher to make exclusive. People are fans of there games because they play it on those systems. Bethesda had fans on all platforms, now they can only be played on Xbox.
Well, Im cool with not playing a bunch of talking sims with bad combat but Im just saying in general

I thought Redfall was confirmed again for first half of the year?

Agree about Starfield, I think that will be out in November. I thought it might slip until 2024, but I think MS will push it out and fix it over the next six to twelve months instead.

From what we've seen, this is a No Mans Sky clone which will include your usual Bethesda lore, storytelling and RPG elements. They are usually great, that's not the point, but this won't be a technological leap. If we go by the trailer, it looks absolutely awful and is clearly rooted to the same old engine they've been using for 2 decades now.

I wouldn't say it looks awful, but yes, Bethesda is definitely not known for any technological leap. Still, I'm excited if it turns good. I hope it doesn't get boring too fast.

In fairness, I don't see Nintendo ever acquiring a publisher and while Sony could get a cheaper publisher, they're not going to either because they don't want to spend the money as they prefer to keep doing what they've done for 27+ years until they need to pivot 100%.

Bethesda's fan base first and foremost has always been on PC followed by Xbox and then PlayStation. The real issue is that are these people Bethesda fans OR PlayStation fans? Because if you're a true Bethesda fan, you're going to do what you need to do in order to play their games. If it's a PlayStation fan who doesn't care about them anymore due to them not being on PlayStation then in all honesty, they were never a Bethesda fan to begin with.

I'm a Ubisoft fan and if Amazon for example acquired them and made their games exclusive (which they should by the way) then as a Ubisoft fan, guess what im doing? I'm signing up for Luna so I can still play their games. I'm not going to quit playing Ubisoft games just because they're no longer available on my preferred platform.

Funny thing is that im not an actual Bethesda Game Studios fan at all and only ever played a few hours of Fallout 4 before dropping it. I am however a fan of Arkane, Tango Gameworks and Machine Games. Id Software is good but their FPS are just way too fast for me. Would love a Rage 3 though. Anyway, point being that as a fan, im going to go where their games are made available.

For me personally, it's all about the games. If your brand/platform/eco-system has console exclusive games that I want to play, I will buy and own that console in order to play the games that I want to play. I would never let any acquisition by any company prevent me from playing the games that I want to play. Doing this would only hurt myself. lol

I see 2023 as follows -

Late February/early March - Redfall
Early April - Ghostwire Tokyo (port)
Late June - Forza Motorsport
Late August/early September - Contraband
November - Starfield

There will also be a few smaller AA exclusives in between the major releases, content updates for the already released live service games and of course a bunch of third party multi-platform day one Game Pass titles in which I already have 3 of them thus far.

Same here buddy. I just take it a step further by wanting the hardware that will give me the most graphic features and at the fastest FPS - which points me towards the PC.

Wasn't there something regarding Forza Motorsport development that made it seem like it could be coming later than Q1 2023? Like they would just begin entering post-production around that time, so a Q1 2023 release would be too soon? I think I remember @Yurinka bringing it up some point a while back.

Because I was always thinking it would be Forza Q1 2023, RedFall late Q2 or start of Summer, and Starfield early Q4 (November). But it seems like it could definitely shape up as you're projecting. Ideally though I'd like to see RedFall at least around March 2023, Forza Motorsport could fill out the Summer months, and Starfield could close things out in November.

It's Microsoft though, so I won't be surprised if they have nothing for H1 2023 after all and everything just gets smushed into the last three months of the year. Hell, Starfield could even get delayed to 2024, anything's possible.

Agree about Starfield, I think that will be out in November. I thought it might slip until 2024, but I think MS will push it out and fix it over the next six to twelve months instead.

Review scores better reflect it in whatever state it is in when released, and not for "the promise of what can come", or relying on PC modders (who are not Bethesda employees) to inflate the scores for what they could bring in the future.

Because by that logic, all games should probably get + 10 MC points automatically, especially if they're on PC or coming to PC. Modders always make games extra.

I wouldn't say it looks awful, but yes, Bethesda is definitely not known for any technological leap. Still, I'm excited if it turns good. I hope it doesn't get boring too fast.

The technical performance needs to be ramped up considerably. If 4K/30 is the only option, it's a fail. That frame pacing was godawful in the June footage.

Those dates all look pretty reasonable except for Contraband. It's not coming 2023 IMHO; we didn't see any gameplay for it (or any updates for it) whatsoever at the June Showcase, and the June Showcase was for games coming within the next 12 months.

We may get some gameplay for Contraband at the next June Showcase, but the game itself isn't coming until 2024 at the earliest honestly.

We are basically in December already and they showed nothing.
I don't think they have anything for Q1 2023 but I could be wrong.

And from the rumors FM8 will be showed first time in Q2 2023 but who knows... MS can show it and release in the next month.

By 'shown' you mean uncut gameplay, right? They did technically already show the game off at the June Showcase, but the controversy became they weren't clear on what was actually running on a Series X (again). That and the RT controversy.

Because of that showing in June I though Forza would be ready for Q1 2023 but that is probably not going to happen. Never once believed the H1 2023 target for Starfield, fwiw.

I think Starfield is going to be a buggy mess no longer how long they delay it.

Most of the game is going to be improved/fixed with mods.

Its a game for the ages.

Very likely, since they're still stuck on Creation Engine 2.0. I just want critic scores to reflect the game as-is at the time of its release, and not some "promise" of what it'll be years from release.

Which would be very unfair considering that same type of luxury isn't given to anything other than Microsoft games, oddly enough (we saw how that affected the MC scores, which were overinflated).

They won't show anything more? Just that gameplay trailer? I'm not sure... it is over 6 months already.
And in Spring it will be a year without anything FM8 related... I think they will have to show gameplay before launch.

I don't remember right now. Do you have a link to the source quote to read the original and literal statement where they say this? Because there's no "postproduction" milestone name. If they plan to release on Q1 a few weeks earlier they should achieve the Gold milestone and a few months before, maybe around now, they should be around the Release Candidate milestone.

If they still didn't achieve Beta or are even in a previous stage (pre-Beta/Alpha/etc) I don't think they would release on Q1 and depending on the case not even Q2. Can't remember what they said.
