Edit: What was anthems reception like initially? Starfield reminds me of Anthem than anything else in terms of hype expectations, pedigree, and ultimately what we got.
And i am the low effort troll.🤣😂.

You'all trying too damn hard.

What is next
Ride to hell retribution > Starfield?

Anthem is actually a great comparison. First new IP in years from Bioware, in development from 2012 until 2019. The hype was through the roof after Andromeda to redeem BioWare (like Fallout76).

It came out and it wasn't good. Same trajectory as Turdfield.

Nobody hyping Anthem as Game of the Generation though.

More like Cyberpunk I think

If what I read is true, the NG+ stuff is nonsense. But maybe it wasn’t accurate.

It actually sounds like the worse way to play the game. Paul Tassi is on a third NG+ run just to see what this is all about and he’s not crazy about it. He’s encouraging just staying in your existing game world I believe.

Players liked the campaign and cosmetic options at first. The iron man stuff is still worth playing for yourself even now. Week 2 everything fell apart with no endgame bad connections and other rookie action game fails.

EA should’ve greenlit phase 2. They gave up too easily. It’s not like anything else that came after did any better really and Anthem had decent launch sales to build from.

I hate having played the entire fall of BioWare. Started with Inquisition IMO. Their gameplay got better with Andromeda and Anthem but the soul was lost a bit. BioWare felt sterile. They’re an rpg studio not an action game studio :/

Holy shit this game needs to be called out more. The exact same lack of environmental interaction as launch Cyberpunk.

And now even industry insiders are parroting the "NG Plus" PR spin. Again, we need an industry wide consumer protection law that forces these people to declare they are being paid for promoting this.

I haven’t been able to play all weekend because of vacation but I’m thoroughly enjoying what I’ve played so far (made it to Mars). My neutral lut mod to get rid of the green tint and reshade makes the game look awesome.

It’s not revolutionary like a lot of people have said but open world rpg’s are so rare that it scratches the itch. BG3, Cyberpunk expansion and this is the perfect trifecta to keep me busy until the end of the year.

I’ve yet to see anything positive outside of known Xbox shills and resetera safe spaces. Virtually all of the discussion of the game, that I’ve seen, outside of regular gaming sphere has been overwhelmingly negative.

Same. When the game reaches non-gaming sites and memes it, you know it's messed up.

So, the release date is coming up and I'm on board from day one. Looking into having fun so I'll go in with an open mind.

But I do have an important question. How bad is the carry capacity? I've heard horror stories. The first thing I invest in with Fallout/TES is carry capacity early on. Gives me an advantage of carrying more stuff early game so I can hoard that money for when I need it.

But I hear that the inventory limit is so bad, that even investing in carrying capacity upgrades doesn't help that much.

That's called confirmation bias.
