Why does it seem like this whole thing was planned right from thr start?
Because it's been a PR disaster since the rumours started, and Microsoft has shareholders, so projecting stability is in their interest.

I think the biggest thing to look out for on Thursday is whether they rule anything out in terms of what can get ported.

So basically new hardware is being developed. Hope they go for the power crown 3 times in a row.
What is up with these new users with completely nonsensical low quality posts?

Lmao, much good the "power crown" has done them over the years given how badly the brand had been overshadowed by the other two.

I can't wait for it to somehow bomb even harder than the Xbox Series. You think MS will just keep bleeding money forever to make the Xbox fans less unhappy?

Haven't you heard what Xbots love to talk? MS can afford to lose money on Xbox because they are trillion dollar company

How so? Seems like they wanted to do this a bit later and their plans leaked and now they are forced to do a PR round.

Idk tin foil hat moment but this seems like a controlled leak

PR or not, it's not like Xbox was ever going to do well. Microsoft threw 80 billion at the problem and that still did nothing

Did you read, or even glance through, the article itself? They specifically say "hardware" for a reason, and avoid the word "console".

I'll leave it to your remaining functioning brain cells to figure out why that wording is being deliberately used...
Hardware means console. They have no intention of dropping consoles. Use your head.

First thing he's going to say is they will not stop making consoles, then he's going to talk about a change in strategy for Game Pass, no more day 1 1st party, and they may or may not announce ports of a game or two to other consoles.

Google Stadia was hardware. Yet, for some reason, I imagine if Microsoft started to make Stadia-likes instead of PS5-likes people would understand they are out of the console market.

You mean the Tom Warren stuff? Oh yeah 100% it's a controlled leak. He "suddenly" has details shortly after Microsoft themselves officially announce the date of the business update. It's a controlled leak and specifically to Tom Warren at The Verge.

Like I've said before, Tom (and to a lesser extent Jez Corden) have inside connects to people at Microsoft. They're online mouthpieces for the gaming side of the brand to some notable degree.

However I also have a feeling MS aren't telling them everything that'll be mentioned in the podcast. They'd hold stuff back obviously because any of the heavier stuff, they'll want to be the ones to say it themselves and control the messaging/optics around it 100%.

First thing he's going to say is they will not stop making consoles, then he's going to talk about a change in strategy for Game Pass, no more day 1 1st party, and they may or may not announce ports of a game or two to other consoles.

They may not (likely will not) stop making gaming hardware, but they could definitely stop making gaming consoles. "Consoles" are heavily associated with a certain business model, that Microsoft seem extremely tired of dealing with.

Any talk of hardware at the Business Update will be very vague though, and just probably hint that new stuff's in the works, and they'll share details at a more opportune date as developments come further along.
