The only thing that bothers me with this things is the huge price difference they offer to pc players. The game is like 70 on Playstation but is 40 on Steam on my country (50 in others) thats like a 40% sale on release.
Lots of threads here are posted hastily. It's mainly wishful thinking. All part of the war.
My comment has nothing to do with Steam or Square. Most FF games on Steam have not sold over 1 million according to Steamspy.
The only ones that have broken 1 million are:
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy XIII
Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XV
And the only one to break 2 million is XIV
I truly hope this forum doesn't take this to mean Square is foolish for porting FF games to Steam, as if they'd put I, II, III, III (3D), IV, IV (3D), IV: The After Years, V, VI, VII, VII Remake, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XI, XII, XIII, XIII-2, LR: XIII, XIV, XV, XVI, World of FF, Type-0, and Crisis Core on the platform over the course of over 10 years if they weren't satisfied with these numbers on the platform
For comparison, Ghost of Tsushima was a 4 years old port and they both target Asian markets so something similar would be expected? FF16 is only 1 year old and it's not cross-gen so the target audience should be bigger.
GOT is at 77,154
FF16 is at 15,423
FF16 might go to 30k+ this weekend (it's a long game) but it's still a big drop
Problem is that FF is trying to cater to everyone. And it's just not a good thing. Both Yakuza and Persona are turn based and have found moderate success. FF just swings from one extreme to the other. That sucks. Game is awesome.
I don't have a history with FF. I have only played FF16, FF7 Remake and FF7 Rebirth. I thoroughly enjoyed all three. But I preferred 16 because of the similarity to Game of Thrones in the story.Problem is that FF is trying to cater to everyone. And it's just not a good thing. Totoki pressuring PlayStation to make sure he gets his end of year bonusesWill be interesting to see how Ragnarok does. Seems way too early to port... Didn't even hold on to it to help sell a few Pro's.
Sometimes I wonder if Sony just like to make things harder for themselves for no reason.
CCU =/= Sales Figures. Every single time a game drops on Steam people always go up to bat about how terrible it seems on paper even though it's the only platform that showcases CCU data front & center for games. The same people defending these numbers were the same people saying this should be on PC after it sold 3 million in a week.
EDIT - it sold 3 million in 4 days on the PS5.
Yeah Steamspy was really the best platform for getting these figures, but the privacy settings change on steam (which is a good change mind you) basically ruined it.Food for thought
According to Steamspy, which used to be capable of giving more precise data but is not able to anymore, the following is the number of owners of each title on Steam:

Sales estimations with Steams CCUs are nonsensical, particularly for SP games. Particularly for full priced late ports.Another PC port that'll flop? Final Fantasy 16 debuts on Steam with 1470 player count
Got it. Well, I guess that sucks for those with a history in the franchise. I am new, so I didn't know any better. The issue with FF16 is that it simply isn’t an RPG.
It’s more GOW and DMC.
That’s the issue.
14K playing it concurrently is great?
14K?
Who cares? It's on PC and that's that matters! The game will play at its finest forever there. As do 99.9 percent of all games released on PC
2 days until the next CCU thread for god of war Ragnarok. And until dawn after that.
Let's see if Sony surprises us with a new port announcement there like they did with spiderman and last of us. A couple of fanboys may whine but it won't matter.

At the end of the day, clearly the series has done well at PC because otherwise they wouldn't have ported the entire franchise over. It continues to be the only platform where you can go from start to finish on the mainline series.
You and the others cared when it ONLY sold 3 million in 4 days on the PS5.
Oh it needs to be on PC so we can bump up those pathetic numbers on PS5.
It sure has…..
I think they're moreso upset at anyone that argued the 3 million sales numbers were too low whilst being fine with typical steam sale numbers. I don't know if that, specifically, applies to something you've said about its sales on Playstation. I know I haven't commented on its Playstation sales as I don't careWhy do you care about sales that much? Do you own stock in Square or get commissions for every copy sold?
Just enjoy games!

And yet, here you are, weaponizing it, along with Sony first party games.Since today FFXVI can't be weaponized anymore.
... a game you never even cared about. Of course.I don't like PS2 and up FF tbh.
