Not so convinced Fairgames will bomb (because the right game at the right time wins) … but … these games are indeed bombing because they’re wokeshit. The Olympics pretty much marked the point where consumers got fed up. There will be plenty of denial about that being the case but it definitely is.

Hopefully Sony looks at Concord, looks at Helldivers success and makes note of the obvious…
The Olympics? Really? Because I think woke has been a partial contributer to Marvel, Star Wars, generic Disney and Suicide Squad's visceral cultural reactions over the past two or three years.

I do not disagree with any of that but I believe the Olympics marked a point where consumers are fed up across the globe.

Even Ubisoft’s Disney Wars game was hurt by Acolyte. No, a heroine is not enough reason to call anything woke (Super Metroid is the GOAT) so I would rather the game stand on its own merits and not be hung along with Disney’s junk but Acolyte surely did even more brand damage and it’s seen compared to EA’s launches.

Gaas is surely not out of fashion. This is a false narrative. Just look at Sony’s own helldivers and the 13 MILLION sold at launch vs Concord’s 1,300. New hits keep popping up and they all are the furthest thing from “woke.”

And no… I’m not asking for pornographic character designs or a drastic change the other way. Feels like a course correction and consumers are directly responsible. This is good!

I don't think it was the Olympics. It's basically been a trend of society becoming more and more polarized due to how toxic the political discourse has become, and people are finally rebelling against being told how to think. I just think it's a shame that people are rebelling at the -ist label more than the fact that corporations now run every aspect of our lives and are steadily chipping away at every last part of our autonomy that can't be turned into profit.

It feels like a snowball effect a bit to me.

I don’t really have an issue with what’s made. It’s easy ya know. You buy what you like and you get to know your tastes. I think the crusades waged are outrageous.

And if i judged every game like this… I wouldn’t like most of the creators of many things I’ve enjoyed from film to music to games.

Don’t get me wrong. I do believe that Concord has other issues. Because a game that great can still succeed even if it’s labeled woke — well I think it should? Cream rises to the top n all.

I knew from the beta I was out. And that was strictly from gameplay… and while being more familiar with that gunplay than most. I still would’ve given it a shot if it was something I’d like to play

Yeah, it’s seeped into media entertainment in the past few years. It’s truly muddied the waters of media in many ways and it saddens me greatly.

There was once a time where this discussion was miniscule. Online spaces mostly consisted of people who truly cared for whatever media it was and to appreciate it together. Now, with rage bait and negativity being the driving force for engagement in our #1 source of information (the internet) people simply cannot focus on what brought them there in the first place.

It’s Us vs Them, and quite frankly it’s tiring hell even sometimes scary, because I’ve noticed how this negatively impacts people I know in real life as well.

I actually anticipated that the game would do better than expected, but it did worse lol.

Was very off-base about it. It might be Sony's biggest ever flop.
Yeah, I said that I would reserve judgement until it actually came out, but would be there standing at the end of the line with my bat, ready to give it a whooping if need be.

And it certainly deserves that whooping. 40 dollars when it offers nothing over its direct competitors except for weekly cutscenes with unlikable, smug characters, probably all of which start and end in media res with no progression or stakes.

Congrats to the trolls, chuds, coomers, culture warriros for taking down a quality game by making discussion of the game impossible in any proper way on the internet and filling every social media post about the game with so much vitriolic garbage it scared people away from giving it a proper chance and it being a new IP by a new studio having no one to defend it.

Hope you enjoy tour free to play games with awful monetization and low/mobile quality graphics and animations while you pay for battle passes onlyto have them expire before unlocking all the content.

Never want to see anyone whine about predatory microtransactions again since apparently that's what you all want. Way to go

There are bots in the game, the lvl 1 players you see are all bots. People have posted screenshots on reddit, if there was a regular influx of new lvl 1 players they wouldn't have shut down the game
Explains why I wiped the floor without knowing anything or even trying during the beta

Dont know if there were bots during the beta but Oceania and SEA for sure have bots, For 10 games in a row that my friend played 7 were the same people in all matches.

Generally Oceania servers have low players even for popular games so I thought at least SEA would have players but concord is a catastrophic flop in asia, I think it sold less than 1000 copies in the whole region. This game has been thoroughly rejected in Asia, this one should be a case study honestly.

People refuse to accept that Concord failed because it wasn't a game people wanted and it was not a good game. Spider-Man 2 is little bit woke but still succeeded, though I can see that from now on, anything woke will have a hard time regardless of quality because woke went too far.

I think Concord was mainly rejected by core audience who are fundamentally single player gamers ( Helldivers is the one multiplayer game per generationthey they would enjoy). The game also did not hit with GaaS gamers ( wider audience) who had no reason to jump on a copy paste of what they are already enjoying.

Core audience can minimize the failure of the product if it doesn't hit with main stream. Hence, single player games are much safer for Sony. Maybe, if they outsourced Factions to firewalk instead of Concord, they would've got some attention from their core audience due to its connection with TLOU. The wokness of TLOU may not generate same reactions.
