no, contrary to that, they'll end up converting console buyers into PC
Plenty of advantages to go to pc. Better graphics, better tech, way more games, mods, free online, etc. if you can afford it, and is serious about gaming, go for pc. But if you can't afford it or a casual then go ps5.I should say PS5 is a no brainer option… if you are used to PS4 that even stronger.
Why? I can list some key points.
- PlayStation games without minimum 2 years wait
- All PlayStation games (not just a few like PC)
- Console experience
- Same ecosystem
- Carry your purchases
What advantage has to move to PC anyway?
I don't think this is a question of playing the waiting game, there is some visibility when the game comes to PC (in steam, media, etc.)... so people buy it regardless. But Ghost of Tsushima was older than most ports and sold better than all the other single player ports.
The game is at the end the same without all the issues you have on PC.Plenty of advantages to go to pc. Better graphics, better tech, way more games, mods, free online, etc. if you can afford it, and is serious about gaming, go for pc. But if you can't afford it or a casual then go ps5.
I believe the % of these that will go to PS5 for a sequel are small but they indeed exists.I don't think this is a question of playing the waiting game, there is some visibility when the game comes to PC (in steam, media, etc.)... so people buy it regardless.
I think once they have it the hope is that whenever a sequel comes out people will get so excited that they'll just get the console to play it.
Also there is the case of people becoming Sony fans after they get a couple of their games (but they have not released that much lately).
This is bound to be true for at least some players out there, I just don't know what the proportion is.
The game is at the end the same without all the issues you have on PC.
I mean basically you don’t have any real advantage to migrate from PS5 to PC.
What to play PS games at launch? PS5.
Want to to play all PS games? PS5.
Want to hold your profile and purchase? PS5.
Want to have a console experience? PS5.
All these “advantages” you said are either not important for a PS4 owner or are flawed.
Better graphics? PS5 give you exactly that.
Better tech? Something 99% of PC gamers doesn’t have or games don’t use anymore it… console tech are the base for PC development.
Way more games? If you ignore the PlayStation ones and the two years more wait to have a chance to play it (remember your are migrating from PS4 so you want to play PS games)
Mods? The advantage that came with disadvantages… cheaters.
Free online? It is a real advantage but you come from PS4 already paying for online play… maybe it is not a big issue or deal breaker?
It is not a matter of afford or be casual… the reasons to move from PS4 to PC are really weak compared to move from PS4 to PS5.
PC seems to be a better move for these are are first entering in a gaming life or are abandoned Xbox and players
And just to you know if you are serious about gaming imo PS5 is the best option in the market and it is even more for these coming from PS4.
People here most of time forgot why PS4 players are playing games on PS4 instead PC… these players are way more inclined to move to PS5 because they don’t see PC as a good platform for them.
I have no ideia where you take these ideias. Those are all real clear advantages. Like i said going to ps4 to pc is a heaven and earth difference. All playstation games will eventually go to pc, so it shouldnt be a problem for ps4 guys, if they really love playstation games. better graphics, pc by a mile. Better tech as in frame generation and ray tracing. PC by a mile. Way more games yes. So many good indie games on pc you can't even count them all. And like i said playstation games will be on pc eventually. Cheaters are on console too without mods lol. Free online is amazing on pc. Most people who haven't upgraded to current gen or to pc are people who can't afford it, or they're very casual players.
According to Sony themselves, no. Hermen seems like he was caught off guard by that question so he just came up with a crap answer.
Sony already tried this during the PS4 era and Layden said it's not happening so they "have to go to their house since they decided to not come to mine".
I doubt even Sony itself actually believes it will convert pc people in any meaningful numbers. They just threw this out there for us, to make us think that the company is playing 4D chess instead of the truth which is that they prefer short term stock bumps to the long term health of the platform.
The suits don't care about what happens to Playstation ten years from now like we do, they'll be out of the company by then. The only thing they care about is showing 'growth' and getting a fat bonus because of it.
The sad but realistic truth.I doubt even Sony itself actually believes it will convert pc people in any meaningful numbers. They just threw this out there for us, to make us think that the company is playing 4D chess instead of the truth which is that they prefer short term stock bumps to the long term health of the platform.

At no point while I had a PS3 or PS4 did I question myself if I shouldn't just sell that console and go 100% PC, now I'm constantly second guessing the decision to even have a PlayStation.Lol all the comments are saying Sony sold em on PC instead. If you're still on PS4 and deciding between PC and PS5, Sony has made PC be a no brainer option.

Totoki and Hermen provided a direct answer: PC is not removing users from PS, it's adding instead new users in general and even if not their main goal also to the PS hardware sppecifically instead, as also happens with the movies and in the future with mobile gaming.
It's something that can be seen in the PS5 only sales of sequels of ported games, with their active userbase growing to record levels and also in the high percent of PS5 sales made to users new for the PS brand we saw in the leaked Insomniad docs.
The second question has to do with the PC platform. The relationship between the PC platform and your strategy vis a vis PC platform. Ideally, it seems like transitioning from the PC platform to focusing on games and consoles would be beneficial, but is that the direction you're taking? Helldivers 2 I think PC platform did very successfully with that title, what about the cannibalisation with other consoles also regarding mobile I haven't received an update on the mobile so please give us updates.
The second question has to do with the platform and the relationship between your strategy and the PC platform. I think the best case would be to move users from the PC platform to Consoles, but are you actually following that? For instance, Helldivers 2 performed very well on the PC platform. How do you manage the potential cannibalization between PC and other consoles?
Totoki - Id like to start with the second question and then ill ask hermen to respond to both questions. The second question about PC platform relationshiop with PC platform. The customer expansion of all platforms is a strategy that is pursuing. The PC platform customers will when that increases the entire customers will increase. Ghost of Tsushima the PC version that was released recently the network experience that was limited in the past has now been expanded to the PC from consoles. Now the comparison of PC and Console - Console is a technology stack from the bottom up so that we can provide a very good excellent experience. The value of consoles will continue will remain our mission is to continue polishing that. From PC to console the transfer of course some customers will move from PC to console well customers who are focused on PC if they find value they will go to consoles so rather than cannibalisation this is an opportunity for growth. So that was was the comments from the platform side. I'd like to ask hermen to respond to the second question as well as to the first question.
Hermen - Indeed we are bringing our titles to the PC platform and we have a dual approach here. On the live service side we are releasing our titles simultaneously so day and date on PS5 and PC but with our tentpole titles our single player narrative driven titles that are as you saw on the presentation the backbone of what Playstation studios has delivered in recent years and in our history we take a more strategic approach and we introduce our great franchises to new audiences and we're finding new audiences that are potentially going to be very interested in playing for example sequels on the Playstation platform. We have high hopes that we're actually able to bring new players into Playstation at large but into playstation platform specifically. Actually the same goes for the work that we do with extending our great properties onto other media such as tv series and film for example as you have seen with the last of us on hbo or gran turismo the film that brings in new players into our franchises as well.
Totoki - I'd like to start with the second question and then have Hermen respond to both questions. Regarding the PC platform, our strategy focuses on expanding our customer base across all platforms. As the number of PC platform customers grows, the total customer base will also increase. For example, the PC release of Ghost of Tsushima has expanded the network experience that was previously limited to consoles. Comparing PC and consoles, consoles offer a bottom-up technology stack that provides an excellent experience. The value of consoles will continue, and it is our mission to keep enhancing that. Some customers will naturally transition from PC to consoles if they find value in it. Rather than seeing this as cannibalization, we view it as an opportunity for growth. That covers my comments on the platform side. I'd now like Hermen to respond to both the second and the first questions.
Hermen - Indeed, we are bringing our titles to the PC platform with a dual approach. For live service games, we are releasing our titles simultaneously on PS5 and PC. However, for our major single-player narrative-driven titles, which have been the backbone of PlayStation Studios' success, we take a more strategic approach. We introduce these franchises to new audiences on the PC, hoping to attract players who might then be interested in playing sequels on the PlayStation platform. We believe this strategy will bring new players into the PlayStation ecosystem. Similarly, extending our properties to other media, such as TV series and films, helps attract new audiences. For example, The Last of Us on HBO and the Gran Turismo film have introduced new players to our franchises.
You still bother dealing with Yurinka? it’s like talking to a brick wall,This is a LIE. For context, the video is here and the relevant section starts at 24:16

The Goldman Sachs representative asked two questions, with the second one being related to their PC strategy cannibalising their Consoles. I have edited both the question and the two answers since the English is, quite frankly, absolutely terrible, but anybody can freely check the source above.

Essentially, anybody with the reading comprehension of a 10 year old and the listening skills of a deaf person can understand that they did not provide a direct answer, nor did they substantiate their answer. Instead, they replied based on hopes and dreams, as I've highlighted.
I hope we're clear on this and that you stop disseminating false information, or as you call it, "flat earther arguments".
