I've heard largely mixed receptions so I am also confused. Maybe EGS paid.
I'd like to think that isn't the case, but last time I checked, I thought titles had an extremely positive reception all around. Make it in that category.

Remedy games are too "weird" for mainstream audiences. I loved Control but most others didn't like it sadly.

I do wish their games sold a lot more.

Imo they make highly critically acclaimed games though

I don’t think people actually played control more then they didn’t like it

I think Sony First Party Studios would give it a wider scope for at least the beginnings of more people to play their games.

From what I gather as well. AW2 sold best on PlayStation even over Epic Games Store

Compared with what?

Took 2 years to Alan Wake sells 2 million units.
Seems like Alan Wake 2 is doing way better.

I can see Remedy being happy with it as they were happy with the sales of the first game.

Alan Wake's numbers:

March, 2010: launch
April, 2012: 2 million milestone
May, 2013: 3 million milestone
March, 2015: 4.5 million milestone

Alan Wake 2's estimates:

October, 2023: launch
November, 2023: ~1 million milestone

It is good imo.
What determine if a sequel was successful or not is how it sells compared with the last entry.
After all the last entry already sold enough to the dev choose to make a sequel.
The sequel doing better is very good.

It would be better for Sony to get something like CDproject Red, which would also give them access to GOG

Where it’s at.

1m in sales and only 9% down from PS4's equivalent year's November = dire. Revenue much higher than the comparable PS4 year btw.

If no deals are announced one would imagine PS5 is tracking to plan, no? Given their target is still 25m.

By buying up a bunch of new revenue streams, yes. Same poster says they've never been more profitable - Xbox has not revealed its profitability.
it should also be noted that holiday marketing is locked down such that there are no new deals or offers after Black Friday, as years of research and evidence showed that any new messaging past the kickoff of the holiday feeding frenzy accomplishes nothing.

This year’s Series S fire sale at Costco is probably an attempt to dump overstock, or a planned promo that stock arrived late for, and it isn’t advertised anyway.

instalava-se in a bubble.

- Tried to say PS is below 900k units… Mat eat them at launch.

- Tried to say Xbox profit is bigger than PS using an article… the author of article confirmed PS profit is 2x bigger than Xbox.

They are not having a good day.

I just realized, neither Starfield nor Forza charted in the top 20 and 3 year old Miles Morales did, and its also in a subscription service 😂

I want the best for Remedy, but they've made a big mistake tying themselves to Epic Games.

Not only is the Epic Games Store a flaming shit pile, as a publisher Epic doesn't pay for marketing.

The game isn't that good and a lot of the good reviews stemmed from circle jerk industry nostalgia hype for an IP they wanted a sequel from for a decade+.

Just one of the ways the media is at times out of touch with the gaming sphere. With that said 850k isn't that bad across consoles since the original was never a big seller either and the IP itself... Was dormant for so long.

Plus dumb release date and lack of physicals also hurt them and will hurt them long term since they won't get price promo late cycle sales, like Control.

And yes I agree, Sony should buy them or cut a 3 game deal with them as well, to set the stage for a buyout.

Stop spreading lies just because the game isn't on Steam, without Epic, that game doesn't happen at all. And no marketing? It was at the PlayStation Showcase, Summer Games Fest, Xbox Partner Event, and it had a Fortnite skin, which is some of the best marketing you can do 😂

A Steam release would've helped a bit but the main problem was no physical release. 50% of new game sales are still sold physically
