Sony Bend upper management declined the pitch for a sequel because Days Gone underperformed.
Why do you insist on derailing the thread and making everything about larger "issues" surrounding Sony. You are talking about Days Gone (2018) in a Concord thread.

I'm sorry. I was just responding to someone else in this thread. Conversations seem to naturally flow in different directions.

I guess that's like saying "Returnal didn't sell well so they should have added a 5v5 mode."

I just don't think successful game developers make games like that. It turns into the Homer Simpson car. You have to pick a lane and excell at it.

But why would they need to? Returnal was liked and was a SP game. People didnt get into it because of difficulty or rogue like which is fine.
They added coop and a tower mode too which finished the story.

A PVP mode would of been interesting though but its more suited to SP and Coop

Let's continue this conversation in a more appropriate thread. We should try to focus on Concord here.

No! Because the lead creative writer / director was toxic and they fired him immediately after the game shipped, and then the other lead director attempted to a pitch a sequel and management turned it down and then he left the studio. There was no one there who really wanted to continue the IP so they wanted to move on.

No need to apologize bro, I actually think it's cool that you're not a gaas doomer and are able to see some positives on that side of gaming.

This is not appropriate talk in the Concord thread.

A GAAS doomer? It's quite literally the future (and present) of the entire medium. Though I'm sure we can discuss this in more appropriate threads.

Not to derail further but the market in CHina, Korea with Black Myth, stellar blade among other titles getting a lot of hype doing well and not being serviced based games paints a different picture. The reason it may seem that there is this giant influx of GAAS titles was because there was a lot of free money Before and more so during covid.

You are seeing the fall out and the results from tons of games that were green lit before and during covid which was when GAAS games were making more than ever. NOW outside of endemic staples that can not be dethroned like Minecraft, Fortnite, GTA online. You are seeing tons of companies dumping their dead ends. And a lot has to do with costs of personal/locations/server to keep GAAS titles online. More people are actually going the opposite direction. Its just that its coming from smaller developers in the West and from Foreign talent in the east.

AAA, and GAAS titles are having a fall out right now. It's in free forall. Mobile has been shifting, streaming has grown in certain avenues for gaming. The ship crashed, and people are now figuring out if they chart a new course with what they have left, build a new ship or get out entirely.

I think neither are going anywhere. “Gaas” has been around since forever and Sony has been doing it since Everquest lol.
Its just MP with DLC, people need to get over the buzz word and fear of it.
SP games arent going anywhere, and neither are gaas. Theres no victory for PS fans to have by trying to cancel it.

Its clear MP games are dominating the market, as much as Zelda or Spiderman sells. Things like Fortnite and GTA, just make it look tiny. Nintendo’s biggest selling title ever is basically a lite Gaas in Animal Crossing. Splatoon was a huge success. But PS fans dont want Sony to do anything else.

I blame Sony because as much profit as they make, they cant read the freakin room and see what their hardcore fans want. The ones who saved their ass during the PS3 days.

Show some new SP games, go get some more 3rd party exclusives and show them. Make them happy.
ND and Sucker Punch haven't announced a new title in like 8/7 years? If games take longer to make, go buy some bloody studios who can make more SP games for you.

Avengers is actually delisted and can’t be bought anymore. Avengers peaked at 245 today and concord at 267.

The streams crossing at all is just whoa.

So all things considered. This may legit be the worst ps launch of all time right?

Concord is not the absolute dumpster fire the internet would have you believe. A quick glance at the comments section of any social media post about Concord is full of memes, jokes, and some full-on grave-dancing regarding low player counts, but rarely does it speak to the quality of the game itself.
Concord may not be worth $40 to some, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t $40 worth of game here. With PlayStation levels of production value, and exceptional gameplay, fans of hero or team-based shooters should find Concord appealing – if they give it a chance.
