Imagine thinking I log into this site to really care if online strangers mock my comment or not lol. I stand by anything I say in here.

Imagine thinking to relentlessly posting crap after crap of yours. I mean, we don't need here a Xbox level of stupidity.

You literally entered here posting this :

Anything below 20 million would be a failure on their part considering the abysmal start they had for the first 2 years. The waning demand should definitely have them concerned.

Of course these aren't official estimates but 20 million should be the bar.

Let me just continue to watch if it's suddenly ok for you keep throwing out your little insults in here... Since apparently this site isn't about that...ha!

With that said your responses simply shows you lack the ability to part take in a simple discussion without getting up in your feelings... It's a plastic box, don't pop a blood vessel.

Guys let's bring this convo back plz. We all have opinions let's not get worked up over them. And no matter how far fetched someines views might be we shouldn't use certain terms to ruffle feathers.

Comparison was just the pure numbers. But since we are comparing side effects... PS4 didn't faced components shortages, it was just that Sony could satisfied the demand in first 6 months. Production was fine till Sony upped the PS4 production up to 2 milliom units per month to satisfy the demand. PS4 was launched in SIGNIFICANTLY more countries than PS2. PS2 was launched in Japan first ( Mar. 2000), then NA ( Oct 2000) and EU ( Nov. 2000). And even then PS2 faced shortages when launched outside of Japan.
PS4 had shortages and was sold out during months like PS5, started a few months before PS5 release. There was also lack of DualSense 4 stock, I had to wait a few weeks to get a DS4 shortly before the PS5 release.

PS4 won't reach 130 mil., maybe 119. 1 million produced PS4s was for the whole 2022.
PS4 was at 117.2M in March 2022, we're almost 2 years later and the chips issue is over. It must have passed 120M.

Sony's 2ne best console or overall?
The best selling home console ever (not only Sony) is the PS2, followed by PS4. In portables the best selling one is DS followed by Switch.

If you mix home and portable consoles the ranking as of now is:
  1. PS2: 155M+ during its whole lifetime
  2. DS: 154.02M during its whole lifetime
  3. Switch: 132.46M as of September 2023, still selling
  4. PS4: 117.2M as of March 2022 (almost 2 years of sales missing, still selling)
Both PS4 and Switch pretty likely will be discontinued in 2025, PS4 maybe in 2024.

If you posting something stupid and someone call that some sort of stupidity, that's not an insult.

It is plastic box, sure, but i respect a logic opinion, not some crap which you are relentlessly pushing.

Fine by me.

PS4 had shortages and was sold out during months like PS5, started a few months before PS5 release. There was also lack of DualSense 4 stock, I had to wait a few weeks to get a DS4 shortly before the PS5 release.

Shortages doesn't mean lack of components. Also, Sony never ever said anything about components for PS4 nor it wasn't a problem for components just like it was for PS5 and it was worldwide problem EVERYWHERE in every part of the industry.

PS4 was at 117.2M in March 2022, we're almost 2 years later. It must have passed 119M.

Yes we are. But like i've said, Sony produced just 1 million PS4 for whole 2022, for 2023 is even less since PS5 supply was fixed in 2023.

The best selling home console ever (not only Sony) is the PS2, followed by PS4. In portables the best selling one is DS followed by Switch.

If you mix home and portable consoles the ranking as of now is:
  1. PS2: 155M+ during its whole lifetime

It doesn't missing at all. Whole 1 million for 2022 and maybe Sony is still selling PS4 stock from 2022. You can add that one million and round it to 118. For the whole year of 2023, i dunno was PS4 mentioned in Circana reports, but it was in GFK reports, some small amounts of PS4 was sold. We also know that in Japan PS4 was sold in some small amount in 2023.

This entire thread is based on a guesstimate outside of Sony. If I say anything below 20 million after March is a failure then who are you or anyone on this site to tell me I'm wrong?

If I say PS5 selling less than PS4 is a failure on their end... Who are you or anyone tell me my perspective is wrong?

Again you make no sense in this regards as that's my personal stance. The only correct logical approach you could have taken here is to simply not reply to my comment. You are not right in my eyes... I could also say what you're saying is crap... But I would have to care to seek out your comment and address it which I didn't. As again this is all subjective.

Everything you've said in here is actually crap in my eyes. But, I'm over this dumb exchange as well.

Bryan is also saying under 20 millions would be disappointing so I don't know why you're so bothered by what Danja is saying when they are both saying the same thing.

I also think under 20 millions would be disappointing 🤷‍♂️

We know exactly why! Of course they aren't gonna go at Bryan for obvious reasons. But I'm not phased, I find it all funny considering I try to not even interact with select members here and they still end up quoting my stuff.

PS4 is not cracking 120 million unfortunately. Production was scaled back massively in late 2019 and early 2020 to facilitate PS5 production. The pipeline was dry for awhile. It will probably end at 118.5 million.

There wasn't PS4 or PS5 consoles in the stores, which were received in little quantities and sold out quickly due to lack of (enough) components.

But there were Nintendo Switchs there all the time.

You and me don't know how many PS4 have been produced or sold in the whole 2022 and even less in 2023 because as I said the last PS4 number we have is from June 2022 (I just reviewed it and thought it was March, sorry).

During 2023 we had PS4 and PS5 stock back to the stores with pretty much normality.

PS4 is 3rd best selling home console. Switch outpaced it.
Switch is not a home console.

It's a "hybrid" console, meaning a portable with tv out.

Launch aligned (correcting their christmas quarter), Switch was pretty much in line following almost exactly the PS4 numbers until things got crazy with the covid bump that Switch got putting it ahead of PS4.

Didn't saw his post! @Bryank75 Your post is stupid. Are you satisfied now, Danja? Calling a 18.5 million PS5 sold in its 4 year a failure is laughably stupid

Just to add, opinions are opinions and anyone can have a differing opinion as long as they really believe it and aren't trolling. What we do not want or condone are ppl getting caustic and disrespectful based off a differing opinion.

Example...

Your opinion is stupid and Xbox levels of stupidity (not good or acceptable)

I do not agree with your opinion and I think that take is not based on reality because past data shows that any console that breaks 100 million is a success. (Acceptable!)

PS4 wasn't in stores because supply issue. Supply was fixed 6 months later because production was up. PS5 wasn't in stores for 2 years because supply issues and worldwide components problem.

But there were Nintendo Switchs there all the time.

It wasn't.

Yes we do. 116.2 mil. was as of March 2021. 117 mil. was as of March 2022. See how PS4 sales nosedived during its end of lifecycle? As of beginning of 2022 Sony decided to produce 1 million PS4s because PS5 supply problems because of components. Why PS4s? Because surely had chips in stock from previous deal with AMD and TSMC. Also, PS4 sales, like i've said in previous sentence, nosedived. Also worth noting Sony planned to end production of the PlayStation 4 in 2021. But because PS5 problems, it was continued. PS5 supply issues were fixed in 2023 and you can bet that Sony doesn't produce PS4s as much. Maybe PS4 passed 118 mil.

It is classified as a home console officially. A home console that you can play "on the go" too. You call it how you want on forums, but officially is a home console.
