Good to see someones alt still getting posts in despite having almost their entire post history deleted just today
That was a difficult time for Sony back then. The entire corporation have been in a reforming process since then. Sony started in 2015/16 to recover. Sony has now in 2022 raised the salary and even given them a bonus in a pandemic. Best example is here Bungie. You’re welcome. This is why I feel like glorifying acquisitions is so dumb... it doesn't offer them job stability/protection or infinite budgets like some like to imagine. All it does it put peoples jobs into more greedy, less trusting hands. These gigantic developer rosters eventually fallout... look at Sony early PS3 gen when a lot of the first party games weren't selling well, Sony didn't hesitate to close any of them. Sure, MS has more money but that doesn't mean they are willing to lose any of it.
I imagine when it comes to game development, Sony knows for damn sure how to retain and manage the talent they have. It shows in their content and release pipeline, they have their shit sorted out for sure. That was a difficult time for Sony back then. "The scale is not yet clear, but Bloomberg has so far confirmed job cuts at Bethesda Game Studios (Starfield) and 343 Interactive (Halo). A Microsoft spokesperson declined to comment on how many employees of the gaming division were laid off"
"Microsoft won't share specific numbers, but several employees have told me that 343 Industries was hit hard. This comes in the wake of a long-running hiring freeze and a lot of contractor departures"
That's messed up.....The craziest thing is XBOX fans feel that MS can buy the whole industry, they can buy Sony, they can buy Nintendo. No they can't. They are already losing big on all their dev purchases so far. Imagine if MS took all the profit from their profitable divisions and put it all into their continuosly failing division (Gaming) and fail to invest further into said profitable divisions to chase some gaming holy grail, whatever they set out to do (take over the living room with OG XBOX, make all games MP focused and Live aware with the 360,` sell that vision that MS's P2P was better than any other for a cost, lock games behind an account or hardware device to control their users and lock them out of the used market, so more money could stay within their ecosystem, they tried that with XBONE, then in this generation, initially chase Xcloud gaming, which has died on a purr, then unto the Netflix of gaming, so they can leverage shovelware on any device at a monthly price. Everything MS has tried had their money prioritized over gamers, it's just that lots of what MS has chased has all crashed and burn, that includes Kinect.
Microsoft’s latest job cuts are expected to be significantly larger than the 1 percent in 2022.
Microsoft is preparing to announce job cuts tomorrow. Sky News reports that thousands of roles will be cut, with the software giant said to be looking at cutting around 5 percent of its workforce. With more than 220,000 employees at Microsoft, that could mean more than 10,000 layoffs.
Note: ABK has 9,500 employees. Acquisition does not equate to better working conditions or job security. Corporations care about profit. #ActivisionBlizzard
TheVerge love these totally consumer and employee friendly moves Microsoft is always making.
