Seems the shilling/turfing class has settled on a talking point:

"Lets not pretend/act like this isn't normal for a big corporation."
"This is normal for big corporations."

You'll get this in multiple flavors from users on the netsphere - wherever the tentacles reach. "Spread, boost, amplify" - Aye Aye, Sir!

Again, hopefully all effected are able to land on their feets.
youve said this twice in this thread and also stated that lay offs are bad. It doesn't need to be said, of course we want them to land on their feet and of course job cuts are bad. No need to state the obvious for bonus points.

What should be asked of Microsoft and the rest is "why are these multi multi multi billion dollar profit organisations laying people off? Do they not have enough fucking money?"

they clearly look at 343 as useless and halo as dead, if it was up to them they'd be making the yearly call of duty and that's it as a 1st party release.

and to think there were people who thought MS buying acti would have led to obscure stuff like Hexen, Tony Hawk, Prototype, or something of the like coming back. LMAO!

They'd sacrifice Halo and the entire 343 team for some COD exclusive DLC right now, straight up.

This surely casts another negative light onto the Activision aqusition. It’s strange, it’s almost as if MS wants it to fail.

I hope everyone who is laid off is able to land back on their feet as soon as possible. I saw Bungie put out a post indicating interest in offering roles to a few who was laid off today.

One thing I have to ask, do anyone think Microsoft is reducing the workforce to offset the possible "fee" they would have to pay if the deal don't go through with ABK? Its going to equal to like 3 billion, right?

I don't think there should be a limit on wishing people effected by layoffs well, lol. I am not doing for any brownie points, you can see most of the replies here are already flippant so I could care less what other users think about it.

For your second question, I think the answer is redundancy. They increased their total workforce by 56% since 2019, which is an astronomical amount. They did a lot of hiring in the pandemic years especially. They went from 140K to more than 220K between 2019~2022. This was bound to happen sooner or later.

Amazon just laid off 18,000 employees a few days back too.

Looks like 343 is the hardest hit studio in the gaming dept with 60 employees being laid off. They had 450 employees at peak, so it's a bit over 10% of their total workforce.

Coalition and Playground have ~10 so at least those weren't hit as hard.

No number on how many Bethesda employees got let go.

That's actually not too bad. Hopefully they turn things around, 343 in particular needs a fundamental restructuring in how they operate or they'll never be able to produce a title that can be a flagship IP

The exact numbers haven’t been made public yet this guy knows?
