This is rich coming from a PlayStation guy, a company who has for decades now paid in an absurd amount of instances to block or keep content off of other platforms.

Miss me with this woe is me nonsense you hypocrites... You reap what you sow.
Who has paid more for exclusivity? Sony with a handful of time exclusives or MS with their multiple billion dollar acquisitions? They will probably be ticking over the 100 billion mark soon enough

It's not even comparable

As of yet Microsoft hasn't even really held many projects from Sony, what they've been doing over the past few years with acquisitions doesn't erase 20 years of Sony cock blocking basically everyone in the industry at every possible turn.

It's transparent by now that all some people care about is future games of multiplatform franchises being removed from certain platforms. They have become so envious and petty that they consider taking games away from others better than having new unique games.

At least back in the 360 days, Xbox brought its own games.
Competition is good for the consumer. Consolidation by its own definition dilutes competition.

Where you want to start?

Brazil’s CADE?
UK’s regulators?
All interviews including the one that he said they signed an agreement with Sony?

It is too many lies to be specific.
So what you're saying is you can't back up your accusations. Adios amigo.

And MS were doing it in the 360 gen with GTA exclusives and timed DLC, COD exclusives DLC, Mass Effect Bioshock, Oblivion, the Witcher 2. KOTOR, Ninja Gaiden on Xbox. They are still doing it now with games like High on Life, STALKER and ARK 2

Don't act like they aren't playing the same game because Sony managed to land the better time exclusive deals in recent years

Oh so they both do the same thing? Then what's with all the shock when it's happening on a grander scale?

This is the problem with being cocky as a brand, eventually someone with a bigger wallet will call your bluff and use your own game against you.

You live in another reality lol
Yes, the real one.

On a side note as a pro tip to Jim Ryan, when your competitor is making acquisitions and you're trying to cock block those acquisitions, it might not be a smart idea to be making a bunch of acquisitions of your own at the same time. Just thought you should know.

A few other thoughts:

-People keep saying sony locked down Final fantasy as a false equivalence to COD, but a new finbal fantasy game came out this year on all platforms (FF:Origin)

-People are saying "Sony will regret this going to court when MS airs all THEIR dirsty laundry" as if microsoft is as pure as the driven snow. We know microosft plays dirty too because thats in part how they were so successful during the 360 days. What business doenst have skeleton's in its closet?

Because it goes from the rigours of normal competition to the realm of monopolistic intent and anti competitiveness. MS coming in with a big wallet earned from other markets is exactly why the regulators are examining the deal

In all fairness, can’t think of another publisher outside of Bungie that Sony is ring fencing from Xbox?

Comparisons to what Sony is doing and what MS is doing are woefully inaccurate.

Bespoke exclusives are as old as consoles themselves. All platform holders do it, it’s a give and take scenario and part of healthy competition.

MS buying up massive chunks of the industry in perpetuity, well that’s a whole new ball game. Nobody in their right mind should support this in any scenario or industry.

Ms money can keep running at a loss to squeeze the competition and essentially strangle them into a shadow. They make noise and pretend it isn’t so, even give enough breathing room to give the illusion of competition all the while holding all the strings.

@Bryank75 Yoo master what’s your thought?

It's what I expected from Phil and MSFT.... it's the double-speak that he is famous for and the reason nobody on the PS side trusted him from day 1.

I think it's potentially massively damaging to the industry to allow this acquisition to go through. EA has always been and remains a close ally of Xbox, with all their releases already included in gamepass, with Zenimax and then this to top it off, it's a clear overreach to me, how many more is too much?

1 publisher was already unprecedented. It's too late to close the stables after the horse has bolted, so I think regulators really need to dig in and not allow acquisitions to get out of control.

MSFT / Xbox has been incompetent at managing game development and it seems like they are determined to either own gaming or destroy it on their way out.

What must be pointed out to regulators is that Xbox has all the studios they need, in almost every major genre.... but they are particularly well off in terms of Shooters, RPG's and actions games...... Activision does not fill in any genre or area that they lack.

They are only buying due to the market power it affords them, they are buying market position as opposed to earning it, using money they earned in another industry where they hold a monopoly to buy beloved IP's and take them away from customers on other platforms and force them away from where they choose to game, where they have their friends, their back-catalog and trophies.... a history built over decades, to force them to subscribe to a service they never wanted or onto a console they dont want to play on.

In short it limits choice, hurts the industry, potentially pulls friend circles apart and is simply unfair as a business practice.
