every modern cpu has speculative hardware prefetching but it's only going to prefetch stuff into L1 and L2 that the cpu can process just-in-time, the L3 victim cache is there in case of L2 cache miss so you don't pay latency penalty to go to ram. Why is it a good thing to blow up Sony's (and the rest of the AAA industry's, btw) business model? You are literally proving Jim Lyin' Ryan right when he says that Microsoft's acquisition spree will end the choices gamers have today. And I'd rather not believe a suit like him.The answer is so obvious yet you don't answer it. Sony's business model is literally a walled garden. Buy a PS5 and buy their games at $70 a pop. That's literally what it is. PC versions are months/years behind. They put no money or effort into their subscription service and do they even have any cloud infrastructure yet despite the fact that they were first with the option but yet did nothing with it.
I mention Game Pass because if it succeeds, it literally blows up Sony's entire business model which is why they're so determined to kill it off. As long as the option remains to buy games, there's nothing wrong with a subscription service. The issue with Sony's business model is that is going to become old, outdated and obsolete because you can't just offer one way to play your games in this day and age. Consoles have a limit and an expiration date. They all do. Expanding and growing to PC, subscriptions, TV Apps and Cloud Streaming is how you'll gain more consumers into your platform and eco-system which is far more valuable than any single console in the short term and the long term. Like I said, as long as the option to buy games remains (which it always will, at least digitally) and a subscription or any single option is forced, then I don't see any issue whatsoever because how you want to consume your gaming content may not necessarily the same way as how someone else wants to consume their gaming content.
Microsoft's spending spree isn't going to decrease or eliminate choice. If anything, it's going to expand it because the only limit is having to buy a console to play games where as there's plenty of other options to do the same. There's nothing wrong with having more than just the buying option as long as none of it becomes the only way.
