People are choosing PC/Steam/Steamdeck that is significantly more difficult then what is a pick up & play console that should be extremely worry as it shows even for the casuals what is more difficult to play your games people are choosing more difficulty & significantly more expensive then a device that is easily pick up & play & cheaper price.
Likely chance is PS console whether it’s pricing or fun exclusive games are both lacking massively. When PS releases 1 new PS studio first party singleplayer game exclusive to PS5 like in 2023 w spiderman 2 & in 2024 only Astro bot & you see competitors like Nintendo which in the final years of the Switch lifecycle already released 4 Nintendo games it shows how contrast & dire PS5 is lacking exclusive games & how dire PS studios output is. Mind you in Nintendo golden years for switch they were at minimum releasing like 5+ Nintendo games all of them being true permanent exclusive. Even the Nintendo games Nintendo released in 2024 & 2023 will likely get a Switch 2 upgrade & because they’re exclusive Nintendo games & the action of upgrading there games for next generation will be more potent
Actually for some reason everytime that there is xbox news about going third party. The forum is filled "Sony too", "sony doomed", etc.
It's not even celebrated here even though ps just got a major new publisher and ps5 holders will be able to access content not available before.

The craziest thing is, PS spent 30 years & hundreds if not billions of dollars to make exclusive to distinguish there hardware & storefront against other competitors just to unwind all what they worked for.
It’s all contradicting because they’re exclusive Nintendo release multiplat games like Lego Horizon on competing storefront & hardware & other singleplayer games day 1 on PC but in the same vein sign exclusivity deals to block games from Xbox like wtf your spending money inherently wasting it because the whole point of spending money for exclusive games is to differ from competitors while at the same time from your own studios diminishing your hardware, storefront & business. And it has been so contradictory that long relationships like Square took note rn Square is thinking why are we signing deals to keep out games exclusive when PS themselves who has hardware, storefront & ecosystem doesn’t even believe in exclusive & releases there games multiplat on even competing storefront & hardware. I speculate more & more 3rd party to reject PS exclusivity when Switch 2 releases & has power near or exceeding PS4. W 3rd party already leaning into Nintendo because Nintendo strong & leading position in Japan & console I can see more publisher target releasing & singing deals w Nintendo to get there franchise in front of japanese gamers even trying to get into Smash. PS needs to stop signing deals to block Xbox when there already dead & needs to sign deals that block Nintendo & Vlave/Steam this is where if PS pc port & multiplayer games where exclusive to the PS PC launcher PS could sing deals where devs want to release on PC but wouldn’t mind signing deal w PS & also releasing exclusively on a PS PC launcher like Epic has done w Alan Awake.
Stellar blade, Rise of Ronin & other games could’ve released day 1 across PS5 & the PS PC launcher so by technicality the game would be on PC just under & exclusively on the PS PC launcher but if PS doesn’t make there multiplayer games exclusive to the PS PC launcher & still release on Steam a PS PC launcher will fail & die from both consumer & 3rd party support standpoint
Clear case of not enough & enticing exclusive library to entice PS4 users to get a PS5
PS4 users who are playing on weaker hardware aren’t even getting a PS5 w stronger specs & they seemingly not budging for the lack of exclusive now completely remove exclusive & now you see a large deficit & I’m not even taking account of the negative effects like ecosystem being diminished & all the profits that is brought by 3rd party publishing & mtx w a smaller install base. It’s the snake that eats its tail type of situation
The thing is there are two CEOs at PS now. Hermen - first party studios. Nishino - ps hardware, ps network, 3-party relations.
Hermen and his team are doing all the multiplatform ports with PS Studios. While Nishino and his team are working with 3-party moneyhats/deals like Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, China Hero Projects etc
I wouldn’t necessarily say that. PC has gotten really popular w casual/kiddy type games such as Fortnite, Roblox & there’s been a tick of kids/casual audience getting a PC just cause there favorite streamer etc
Also with Valve making the Steamdeck which is & in the future will be as pick up & play as consoles Steamdeck brings the accessibility for “PC” gaming similar to consoles.
