It's insane that the MC is even close on this one. Those Xbox outlets dragging the average up like the Fitzcarraldo.
He'll probably nominate Starfield to be one of the GOTY candidates because Xbox fanboys will attack him if he doesn't like they did with Forza Horizon 5.
"And the winner for most over hyped, underwhelming game is...Starfield."Geoff is going to give Xbox another green award (participation trophy) so Phil wont be sitting in the audience looking like this all night:
Watching all other studios get an award another year except for Xbox.
those *xbox* sites that reviewed it with 10/10 or 9/10 will put it in their list!At 84 it won't be in any Top 10 list at the end of the year. There's way too many better games. You would be biased to include Cacafield.
I'm checking you Geoff
Putting together a top ten list for an Xbox-centric site would be very difficult if it was limited to first-party releases!those *xbox* sites that reviewed it with 10/10 or 9/10 will put it in their list!
Horrific. When I click on top critics' picks, it brings their all time list up, with Zelda OOT at the top. There's no world in which OOT is anything but below average these days.MC has just updated their site layout btw.
I disagree. For its time, it was literally the best game ever made. Not only was it a perfect template from transitioning from 2D to 3D, but literally every aspect of the game from music, art direction, story, gameplay, lore, and world design was perfect. Its dated now, but its impact at the time cant be understated.Horrific. When I click on top critics' picks, it brings their all time list up, with Zelda OOT at the top. One of the best games ever created.Horrific. When I click on top critics' picks, it brings their all time list up, with Zelda OOT at the top. There's no world in which OOT is anything but below average these days.
Cyberpunk reached over a mullion 3 years ago, Elden Ring was over 950000 last year ( and everybody know that Soulsgames are niche ! ), Hogwart Legacy is little shy of 900000 this year even after being boicotted... Sure, 1 nillions is reeeaaaally hard, but it is not an unachieveble number....You just need to be a WAY better game then StarfieldWait, a million wasn't really that unrealistic? Ummm what? That's record breaking for single player games.
It was shit in 1998, even worse shit by modern standards, but the Nintendo Boost is real.Horrific. When I click on top critics' picks, it brings their all time list up, with Zelda OOT at the top. There's no world in which OOT is anything but below average these days.
so far this year the top games are:Putting together a top ten list for an Xbox-centric site would be very difficult if it was limited to first-party releases!
I didn't say anything about its reception at the time. I don't want to see it on top lists if I'm looking for top games to play right now.I disagree. For its time, it was literally the best game ever made. Not only was it a perfect template from transitioning from 2D to 3D, but literally every aspect of the game from music, art direction, story, gameplay, lore, and world design was perfect. But looks like they've didn’t expected a low scores from IGN and Gamespot. LOL
Surely for next Bethesda game they won't receive a review copy. LOL
Then again, if you only release 10 games for your platform in a year, they are automatically all top-10 releases! It's the N64 strategy!so far this year the top games are:
1 - Starfield
tied on second position:
Forza and Redfall
The sky is the limit, even then Starfield goes much further if you're willing to put up with the menus and loading screens!
I don't see the point, the Horizon games are great games in and of themselves.Like you said, they kept using Elden Ring against HFW (and BOTW against HZD) to downplay the Horizon games. Now they know what it feels like when people do that towards a big Microsoft exclusive.
Another one.
7.5/10
Starfield (Xbox Series X) REVIEW - Strange Space
Bethesda's latest massive RPG, Starfield, has plenty of delights in the vast expanse of space, but it's not all sunshine and nebulas.culturedvultures.com
