People have been crying about no PS5 games since It's launch, so It's nothing new.
(Even though It has more games than PS4 had for it's first 4 years. PS5 just lacks THE game, like Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 4, Halo 2, that made people rush to get the new console)

PS5 has tons of games, but the problem lies in the small announcment windows inbetween SIE releases. They could have revealed Astrobot last year If they wanted to. Add the billions of PC ports to that, and It just feels dire.

Xbox death resulted in the switch of Sony's view on exclusivity and PS Studios games.
Normally, exclusive games were never supposed to be proftable. The idea was to make a huge library of interesting and diverse games, to drive players towards your console. Sadly, the death of competition changed that. Sony no longer has to make you buy a console. Those who play new games on consoles will buy the PlayStation anyways, so why bother right? It's not like they are going to buy a Switch to play 720p/20fps ports of PS3 games.

So now SIE has no excuse to not push towards being profitable. Especially since the costs keep rising, and the PlayStation playerbase doesnt seem to be all that passionate and supportive towards PlayStation's new releases. (60m consoles sold, and only a milion copies of Ronin and stellar blade has been sold. While not terrible, when you compare that to the Switch where Nintendo can just randomly bring back a no name IP like Pikmin and It tends to sell over 5m copies, It just looks pretty bad. Most of the PlayStation playerbase are casuals who play CoD, Fifa and fortnite. The hardcore passionate fanbase is no more than like 5m users)
And just wait until Nintendo's Switch successor releases with CoD on it. It's going to destroy PS5, especially in consideration with Nintendo's own 1st party titles.
Seems both you and OP are still salty about the PC ports, which is getting really old. The tweets never mentioned PC and OP to drive a narrative inferred that PC ports have something to do with Sony 'having no games"

The real reason behind "no games" which is absolutely fake is that games with the production values Sony is known for take a LONG time. If Sony were to port legacy games to PS5 to fill the perceived gaps in between, no one would have any reason to complain.

It's what Nintendo does. The switch was carried by the superior Wii u back catalogue for a long while. And now they are scrapping the bottom of the barrel for remasters. Let's see how the switch 2 pipeline looks when they have to feed a console entirely from scratch with new releases.

Also it's way easier to have "new" games when you have no BC. Nintendo standards are just different, as in way lower.
Nintendo has had plenty of newer games on Switch in comparison to PS5 & Xbox Series X though, even without Wii U ports & other ports/remakes from Nintendo's previous platforms.

LMAO. People won;t be buying a Switch to play COD. Especially one that'll be 2 gens old by the time it releases.

Physical media and the very few timed exclusives (like GTA and Final Fantasy) are all that is left.

I bought my PSP, PS3 and PS4 all because of exclusives that I felt like I needed to play, outside of Final Fantasy I haven't felt that way about any PlayStation only game this gen. ASTRO's Playroom and GT7 are Sony best exclusives this gen.

The Switch has fortnite, apex and overwatch 2. Don't see them in the top 10 in the Nintendo shop. And why would it do better then cod on phone?

Hello, fellow Icons.

Today, we announce a new thread to centralise all the negative Sony threads into one condensed area.

For people who don't know, and I am sure there are not many of you, we have a lot of Doomer posts about Sony on this board. Every couple of days, we get the usual suspects; you know who you are, complaining about Sony, with the same old usual, "the sky is falling posts."

These threads normally revolve around the same talked-to-death topics, if not just jumbled up in a new form.

These threads, in general, have been affecting our user base, with some people not wanting to use the forums due to the constant negativity going on.

So, with that in mind, this thread will now operate as a one-size-fits-all thread for all your negative low-hanging fruit posts.

If something really important and relevant comes up in the realm of criticising Sony for doing something silly, it will get its own singular post; other than that, the usual "The Sky Are Falling posts that have been discussed a thousand times" will be put here.

The advantages of this thread are many.

1: This consolidated thread will allow all the negative news to be focused in one area so that we don't have a string of negative threads dirtying up the forum section.

2: We receive many reports about dooming and glooming threads daily; this should allow users to avoid or ban one particular thread, allowing said users to have a more positive forum experience.

3: General harmony on the forums; we want to be an attractive place for people to come and visit; we did not create this place to become a bastion of hate and negativity

4: Mod work. We receive so many reports about these type of threads. We don't want to warn users or crack down on people for expressing their opinions, but we can't allow this place to become a Samaritans crisis hotline centre either. We need a balance, and this should hopefully facilitate it.

Thank you for your support.

I say boo, personally.

"Doomer" threads use leaked data etc to show a trajectory of business harm something like PC focus has had on console business, or how the juice hasn't been worth the squeeze, and extrapolate on their opinions outwards.

Anti doomers often just say "but current big money", without the context of short-long term impact, or that current big money doesn't negate some of the misteps talked about, weather they have happened already or likely-will with the moves Sony are making., but money is not the "gotcha" it would appear to be desired-as?

Now being confined to one mega thread? Eh...
I see what OT is saying, but just my two cents?

Yep, not everyone is going to be happy, but we have lost a lot of good members to this; we have noted several people saying openly in threads they don't want to use this site anymore because of it.

People don't seem to realise or care about the effect of their constant negativity has on others.

If we want to grow and retain people we need to act, cant just cater to a small group of people that always see the glass half empy.

I'm definitely one of the few people here who's actually been happy with his PlayStation 5 up to this point and it should only get better as the second half of the generation approaches this November. Out of the 10 games I have played and completed on PlayStation 5, one was an 8.0/10 (Ronin), two were an 8.5/10 (Kena/FF XVI), six were a 9.0/10 (Miles/Ratchet/HFW/Spider Man 2/Rebirth/Stellar Blade) and one was a 9.5/10 and my 2022 game of the year (GOWR). Oh well, to each their own I guess.

A mere thread with disconnected posts, if you will, seems marginalising to one side's opinions? A Gaming Rant Sub-board seems more respectful to thread creation/discussion flow than a thread? And people whom effectively don't want to see the so-called dooming can ignore it?

I feel pretty much like this too, saying that I have a gigantic backlog and still have dozens of brilliant games to play.

Luckily for me, the backlog I have for this generation is only 4 games but 10+ expansions that I simply haven't had the time to get to yet as there's too many games. The second half of 2024 is looking like a 15 game list for me. UGH.
