VGChartz always have been fake and wrong because they are just fanboy guesses, always favored Nintendo when compared to Sony.

So pretty like this time they are wrong too.

This is kind of believable though. The pandemic hurt the PS5 when it came to sales.

No, but that’s what you seem to want it to be…

Person is strictly talking video games and how people conduct themselves in talking about video games. Not politics.
Resetera is political driven game forum where they bring things up related to gaming industry that are political in nature.

Issue is they decide what view the site has. Which makes it a walking on eggshell echo chamber.

This. Site is just video games with some off topic stuff like sports/entertainment thrown in on non game thread section.
What person is trying to say is we want fun place to discuss games without the comments sounding like they came from gamefaqs. Which is happening a lot here.

Notice how the best podcasts like sacred symbols, reforge gaming are not acting like children in their shows when answering questions or topics?
People who act like people on this site in their chats/questions get called out or ignored. Because it adds nothing of substance to discussion of issue/topic etc.

Nintendo’s consoles that sell well are always much cheaper than the competition.

Wii, DS and now comparing Switch to PS5. Kinda silly comparing it

Hilarious that people are still using vgchartz despite universal consensus that they are full of shit, but then I looked at the thread creator and understood.

in this case it's not fake because there is official confirmation coming from Nintendo that the Switch had sold 65M units by it's fourth year, Sony is yet to confirm if PS5 has surpassed 60M units

Ahh, VG charts, MS' own astroturfing "analyst".

Why not compare to PS4, a console that released outside of a major world-wide pandemic and did not suffer major supply constraints?

I thought we had a doom thread for posting out of context crap like this.

I went to double check it and according to Sony PS5 already was at 59.3M in March.

So can't be 58.78M in May as VGChartz say, as usual these numbers are fake and they are underplaying PS5 numbers.

Edit: Just saw that these 59.3M were sold in. As of then of April 2024 sold through was 56M according to Sony, so around 58M for May is possible:

Seems this time as exception they got close to reality with PS.

August 2020: Nintendo Switch crossed 60M units sold (3 years in its lifetime), in the 4th year, the one the thread refers to, Switch already had 65M+ units sold, so no, not fake numbers in this case, may apply to other cases when it comes to monthly tracking, but not in this one :)

We know that the PS5 was at 56 million as of April 30th.

Sony doesn't announce sales figures monthly. We'll know exactly how many PS5s have sold in less than a month when Sony reports their quarterly figures.

The solution to not knowing how many units have sold isn't to create your own data (vgchartz) but to wait for real data to do a like for like comparison.

This isn't difficult, but for some reason you feel compelled to create threads that are absolutely worthless and fairly consistently negative to Sony.

I don't think comparing the Switch and the PS5 is totally without merit, but a proper analysis always would keep in mind unit vs dollar sales for two products with considerably different prices.

LOL people still using VGcharts HOW MANY COUNTLESS TIEMS ARE THEY GONNA MISS COUNT THE PS5 BY 100S OF 1000S OF UNITS.... AND PEOPLE GIVE U A PASS NAH FUK THAT NOT ME I STIL LREMEBER THE BLACK FRIDAY SHIT WHEN THEY SAID XBOX S/X WON BLACK FRIDAY BY A HUGE AMOUNT. Only to turn around a walk it back when NPD and others started dropping that show ps5 destroyed xbox in black friday and they undercounted sony by 800k that month... THEY ARE 100% FAKE ASS NUMBERS.

VGChartz will often revise their numbers based off of official updates, but you never know at any given time whether their numbers are real or based off of their guesstimations.

This is why people don't use them.

No self respecting person would cite an analysis in numbers they didn't think they could trust 100% of the time... but here you are making a thread about it.

even when they announce PS5 surpassed 60M units sold, Switch is leading by 5M+ units anyway, cause the Switch surpassed 60M in August 2020, when Switch had just 3 years in the market, so it would be equivalent to November 2023 for the PS5 (3 years)

i have official Nintendo numbers to back the affirmation made by them, PS5 is at least 5M behind the Switch in the same timeframe

56 million sold through consumers, VGChartz points at 58.78M sold through as of May so it's kinda realistic numbers, but of course PS5 already shipped more than 60 million consoles tho

well, these are the only two actual console sellers we have to compare 🤷‍♂️

Of course this is correct, they’re comparing 2 generations worth on consoles to PS5’s 1. Switch has been out way longer, makes sense if there’s more.
