Yeah honestly most people are not gonna build a PC or put up with the configuring/modding/troubleshooting that comes with the territory. Plus its more covenient to have a console for living room/regular tv use.
There'll always be a need and appeal for a console of some sort regardless of what happens.

Sony was suppose to adopt the gamepass strategy because the industry was going that way too. Something they have already been doing with PS now and PS plus for over 10 years before the media started to over exaggerate MS amazing new creation.
We see now how that turned out.

Yeah it sounds kinda absurd, maybe I'm wrong but I was under the impression that PC was a secondary consideration and that Sony's main concern in the gaming world is supporting Playstation. To say that they're putting the majority of their resources into another platform just seems extremely unlikely bs. When the Activision buyout concluded and GP’s subs stalled. They made the decision to pivot. Now Satya and the higher ups are calling the shots. You can't witness what has transpired over the last 5 to 10 years in the industry and not see this unless your head is in the sand.

Nintendo doesn't need to do it right now.
But as their costs continue to climb, they'll feel the same pressure that XBox and PlayStation felt.

the only thing that has changed is Xbox not selling enough hardware to sustain the budgets of the games in development post acquisition. It's honestly not hard to understand this, Sony sells 3 consoles for every 1 Microsoft sells, making their market position more flexible.
When Sony's hardware numbers decrease YoY for SEVERAL years like Xbox, I'd be hearing your point. You can't just take Xbox's problem and apply them to Sony and Nintendo like that. All of those companies are structured very differently and have unique positions in the market.

PlayStation used to compete with hardware manufactureres like Nintenod and XBox. Now they're competition with game makers like Roblox, MoJang, Epic Games, EA etc...
