This might not be the correct thread for a question like this and it's rather heavy to come straight out of the gate with, but:

I'm here as a direct result of ResetERA finding me to be undesirable, somehow. I know everyone that gets banned from somewhere tends to pull the "but I didn't do anything" card, but I genuinely can't figure out what i did to be banned in the first place and my subsequent bans have been not for doing anything inappropriate or upsetting anyone, but simply because they ban permanently on-sight if they suspect someone is an "alt account." As far as I can tell, I was originally banned because, around 2019, I expressed that the idea of protests becoming violent was undermining the purpose of having them in the first place and giving "the other side" examples and ammunition to use to shut down even the very concept of peaceful protest and civil disobedience, to which several members of the community reacted with rage that "nothing will ever change that way," and telling me that I'm "evil" and "privileged" because I suggested that people who approached politicians in restaurants simply stand silently, arms crossed and glaring rather than getting physical.

To be transparent, there's an ongoing chronicle of ResetERA's moderation history @ https://resetera.kiwifarms.net/hot
My previous usernames there were "SoulUnison," "ResetSoul," and "Drifting."

I guess what I'm trying to get at is: what's the moderation philosophy around here? The community DNA? Is there/has it been considered for there to be a public-facing log of moderated posts and the reasoning for actions taken? I notice there's the beginnings of something along those lines here: https://icon-era.com/banned-users-list/, but it doesn't allow users to actually see the content of comments that were actionable, only vague, nondescript blurbs from the moderator in question as they close the ticket, so to speak. Ideally, I'd like to see a forum that involves its userbase in the moderation process, putting reported or questionable content up in a sequestered area where users can vote and/or otherwise have input on what's appropriate and to push for justification and accountability when something seems heavy-handed, unreasonable and/or personal.

They if they can show why posters were banned. If poster was slinging some bad racists remarks, and spewing hateful stuff, thenthey probably wont show the posts.

But for the most part a lot of stuff is pretty open and we have after a period of time give members access to Icon-Era discord.

Where everyone chats.

I'm going to add @Bryank75, @Darth Vader , @TubzGaming to my response as they are admins/staff, I'm just a dude lol.

But I've been here since the beginning mostly, and we all have open dialogue with each other when people get banned, or if people ask questions on why someone was banned.

The goal of this place was to have a site that was just for games, no BS, no politics, or agenda policing. But we do want discussion to stay on the topics. So if you were disruptive at other sites just for the sake of it, then this place won't be the place for you. If you go into threads just to shill or troll, constantly and derail thread discussion you will get many warnings, banned from just posting from said thread, and if it goes beyond that after staff talk to you then well at that point you are deciding you're account fate.

I mean we literally let craig of war into this place lol. And that guy is batshit. He was banned multiple times, made alt accounts and they still let him in here, he continued to do the same shit, after people gave him more chances he deserved.

His actions would have been instant ban on reset and Gaf. Which he was also banned on for same stuff.

Welcome to IE! I hope your stay is fun and enjoyable.

If you want to discuss your bans from other sites, we've just made an Off-Topic thread in the Communities page for this very thing.

We've all been 'victims' at some point or another from various websites, so I empathize with you especially if you feel you wasn't being a troll. However, we all have to realize that the mods from these sites are people and all it takes is you to piss off one mod in order to make your stay very unpleasant and short. People have biases and that's going to always be the case.

If you are here and post something offending to others, we'll warn you and place the warning in the post that warranted such. At that point, you can PM any mod you want or discuss in our discord channel to get immediate feedback.

Again, welcome aboard!

Also, just as a point of reference, Cat lovers are not welcome on this forum.

As you can see from my extremely popular thread, most good people agree with this me on this.

For all you new users, I suggest you have a look and set your priorities straight.

Yup, I remember reading some of your posts, didn't know you got banned.

We basically use discord to resolve these issues for the most part... we have several members that came back from perms due to their mature approach and authenticity.

We also usually have screenshots of any incident that can be shown in private if it is something very offensive or that could reflect negatively on the site.

If you want, I can DM you an invite to the Discord.

As mentioned by other members we now have a Meta thread, so bans may be discussed if needed, directly on-site too.
