The point is you have people that don't make lots of money getting in debt for that iPhone 14 pro. You live in Brazil, you know how it is, Itaú and other banks have installments plan for poor people to buy iPhones. People pay for value and price is secondary.

Yes... that is true... but cheaper phones (like < $200) are still the most sold in the world.
In Brasil iPhones sells pretty well but Samsung A03, A13, etc (and similar priced phones from Motorola, Redmi, etc) are in hands of most people.

But like @Dodkrake posted... you are right about US... that is why even being ~50% in US it drops to ~15% when you look worldwide.

You can calculate a lot from this

Biggest takeaway is PS5 is significantly beating XBS more than PS4 ever did, despite XBS having a $199 SKU.

• 2.26M consoles in Nov 2021, I estimated 1M+ consoles in Nov 22. With that we have:
  • 1.328M PS5
  • 0.73M XBS
  • 1.202 NSW
• PS4 gain over XB1 2015 LTD
  
  • 1.3M
• PS5 gain over XBS 2022 LTD
  
  • 2-2.3M
  • PS5 is so far ahead now, that the gap is equivalent to the gap of mid 2017 PS4 to XB1
  • Also biggest yearly ratio, (57:43)(PS:XB), since the PS2 era from what I see
• Approx PS5 shipments
  
  • US Q2 = 1.136M , Q2 global shipments = 2.4M => ratio = 0.47
  • US Q3 approx ~ 3-3.3M, Q3 global shipments = 6.38-7M
    • If we assume some level of over shipment in the channels now:
      • PS5 Q3 ~ 7-8.5M

XBS is behind XB1 by ~1-1.6M

Also its possible PS5 has already beaten PS4's NPD peak year of 5.74M if Dec was 1.41M+, despite having stock problems for most of the year.

I think this continues to show that PS5 is actaully set to take further marketshare away from XBS this generation.

I'm no authority here so I'll let them decide but I know Aqua has a weird history (when was the last leak, like 10 years ago?).

The numbers for Xbox are terrible, you can tell there is no hype in the real world for that console. Internet fanboys are skewing the reality.

this is why i can't stand hiding sales numbers. Consumers have a right to know where these things stand in the market, and if you're going to plunk down money on a console, you deserve to know if it's healthy, selling well, and will be supported in the future.

MS removes all of this certainty with their shady tactics. I really hope an independent organization starts to push for laws to be passed that require MS to release sales figures.

It's deceitful, shady business practices like this that make them stay in last place. I have no trust in them or Xbox right now - with sales that low, who's to say when support for Xbox Series will be dropped? Look at how bad things got for XBONE, and Series is actually doing WORSE... WOW.

Each Xbox is selling at a loss per a Spencer interview last year. At 499 the Xbox Series X is losing MS 200 and the Xbox Series S at 299 is losing MS 100. He stated losing between 100 and 200 per console. It is unlikely the Series S is the heavier subsidised console of the two [299+200= 499 Series S doesn't make sense at all considering the PS5 was making very small profit on the disc PS5 before the Russian Invasion].

They are losing money with every console made and due to the Apple Epic trial, Xbox confirmed they never turned a profit on a console sold since launch.

Any money made by Xbox Division is from first party sales, accessories, the 30% share on each console sold and whatever the remaining amount of Gamepass revenue once you pay licencing, administration and maintenance fees.

Contrary to optimistic belief, the situation with materials will soon (late 2023 through 2024) get worse, not better. Not only rare earths, either. Wafers production in general.

Friendly advice, I'd recommend anyone planning on upgrading their PC parts to do so this year.

games should offset that, but when you lost 80% of your sales, you can just imagine in what kind of hole they are.

Its the reason for Series S. ”Project Trojan Horse” right?
Releasing a much cheaper unit, to combine sales numbers with the more expensive Xbox.
Combining numbers, so unit sales numbers look more impressive than they are.

But I think MS thought Series S was gonna be alot more successful and a commercial hit. Ends up being a waste of time, and holding back the generation as its the first time in console history a launch console has 2 completely different specs.

MS basically holds back the generation just so they had a chance of combing 2 consoles sales numbers, they thought having a cheaper unit will = more sales and commercial sales. So they can brag about it more.

Imagine if there was no Xbox Series S, sales numbers would be less impressive overall this gen for Xbox
