Actually it's not, let's compare it to the competition. the new PS+ is made of 2 subscriptions merged together in June 2022. the PS+ which is a multiplayer paywall equivalent to Xbox Live Gold and had 44m subs as of June 2022. and PS Now the service equivalent to Game Pass which had 3.2 million subscribers on both PC+Consoles combined as of June 2022. on the other side, Game Pass reached 15 million subs only on PC, and 10 million subs on consoles (if we go by this data)
so you're actually looking at +25 million subs for Game Pass on PC+Console VS +3 million subs for PS Now on PC+Consoles.
it's also worth noting that PS Now launched in January 2014 while PC GamePass launched only in June 2019.
PS Now offers a library of +400 games like gamepass and it reached 3.2 million as of June 2022 on both consoles and PC combined. out of the total 47 million New PS+ number 44 million are PS+ subs, a multiplayer paywall subscription that doesn't offer a library of games like GamePass.
it looks like GamePass is doing exceptionally well VS the competition.

Sony had only +3 million subscribers in PS Now aka Premium+Extra as of June 2022. and 44 million subs in the multiplayer paywall PS+ aka essential tier as of June 2022. this tier does not offer a library of games like Game Pass. which means it doesn't compete with Game Pass

The 45m+ subs Sony has would be a dream scenario for Gamepass at this point given how much it is struggling despite all the investments on it.
Plus has 3 tiers and we have no idea how many players in each. If we take the entirety of GamePass, including GP console, Ultimate and any Gold conversions then you must take into account the entirety of Plus, base, extra and premium.

Xbox live gold is easily above 50 million subs, if Microsoft was dreaming of having that number they would just merge the 2 subscriptions together and be like "voila! we have over 60 million subs", but that would be just lying to themselves.
PS Now launched in 2014 and reached only 3.2 million subs on PC+Console as of June 2022. that's what "struggling" is
Game Pass is a standalone subscription separate from Live Gold. as was PS Now a separate subscription from old PS+. what Sony did is merge the 2 together while Xbox kept the 2 separated. it's not logical to compare the new PS+ to Game Pass.
PsPlus 2 tiers Extra+Premium both were at 3.2 million as of June 2022. there's no way they grew over 25 million in the last 9 months. so apparently GamePass is "leading PS+ significantly" like Sony said.
some people run with "47 million PS+ subs" not realizing that only 3 million are for the actual MGS and 44 million for PS+. and they need clarification
@TubzGaming I think the Xbox naming is what's confusing people:
- Xbox live is the equivalent to psn. both are over 100 million MAU
- Xbox live Gold is equivalent to old PS+ (essential tier now)- GamePass is the equivalent to PS Now (Extra & Premium tier now)
Live doesnt have over 50M subs in this universe. There re no working 50M xbox consoles out there let alone subs.
