If MS make bank from it, Sony will follow.

You know this...how? Your opinions don't necessarily align with corporate strategy you are not privy to. And aside from that, would those games even run on a Switch?
Xbox has a small install base and Xbox owners don't seem to buy many games, Sony has no incentives to do it.
Sony is already porting most of their games to PC, a far bigger market than Xbox.
The Switch can't even run Sony PS4 games.
They already do with PC.No they won't
I've been hearing the "recession upon us" drum for 5 years now, and so far, other than a very small contraction in some countries, there's no recession. As for the market being smaller, not it isn't.The market is smaller and a recession is upon us.
Bigger than last gen.And are becoming less so by the year. What's the attach rate of hardware to software for the ps5?
The slide in question, which we won’t share here for obvious reasons, reveals that the PS5 has a higher attach rate than the PS4 (94% vs 92%) at the same point in the consoles’ life cycles. PS5’s average gameplay time is also higher by at least 6%, and its platform retention and gameplay hours per user percentage is also higher than the PS4 at a comparable point in time.
Me bookmarking your post would mean me caring. The PS5 is outselling the PS4 launch aligned, and nothing points to that changing. It's not a talking point. Bookmark this post for the end of the gen, I may not be around to say "I told you so" and you'll have to do it yourself.
Who knows if the Switch 2 is even going to be much more powerful than a Steam Deck. Steam Deck hardly cuts it when it comes to running the latest PS5 games even at lower res.Switch 2 and Sony has already started porting games to PC. It's not a far leap to get them running on a steam deck (if they don't already) or a switch 2.
Sony, just like Microsoft did, are throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. Partly because they've lost their way and partly because the industry, demographic and market have all shifted towards alternative ways of spending their time.
fr that dude is just pulling things from his assWhat is this assertion based upon?
Gaming surpasses both movies and music combined in terms of spending by about 20%. And that gap has been growing in the past decade. Moreover, gaming spending will surpass global TV spending in a few years.
They port "some" games not all and they are usually older titles.I appreciate the cynicism, however, I've been told the same shit for nigh-on two decades by varying flavours of forum posters and, I've yet to be wrong about the direction of a console manufacturer.
Besides, we don't need to know the ins and outs of a private strategy is we can see the effects and direction of it, clear as day.
The switch is old news. Many will want to ride the coat tails of the popularity of the switch and jump on the Switch 2 bandwagon.

I'm sure, on this very forum, you will find posts of people decrying the very idea of putting PS5 games on PC AND laughing at Microsoft for doing so.
Yet here we are.
MS started doing day 1 Steam releases in 2019, and they'd be even more screwed today if they hadn't. How can you even greenlight the development of a game as big as Starfield with only ~15M customers to sell to?They port "some" games not all and they are usually older titles.
Not the same as the stupidity that is MS handling of Xbox/PC.

au contraire mon frere. If Xbox never dipped their toes into PC in 2016, they'd be in a significantly better position today.MS started doing day 1 Steam releases in 2019, and they'd be even more screwed today if they hadn't. They would be in a much better position if Xbox never existed tho. Steam exists because MS spent years treating PC player like shit thinking they had something in Xbox.au contraire mon frere. If Xbox never dipped their toes into PC in 2016, they'd be in a significantly better position today.
PC gaming was honestly better when Microsoft (not Xbox) was more involved, Steam completely eradicated physical games, at least a ton of Games for Windows Live games got physical releases! And did you notice that once GFWL left, the Steam flash sales completely disappeared and the storefront started to become more stale? Steam isn't what it once was sadly. They would be in a much better position if Xbox never existed tho. Thankfully they made about every mistake they could've made over the years, complete clowns.
The MS push for Games For Windows Live was one of the worst time periods in PC gaming, it's easy to tell you don't play on PC. Microsoft endgames was to charge for Live Gold on PC, complete absurd and rightfully rejected. I specifically remember trying to play GTAIV and Street Fighter IV online and running into a lot of issue due to Games for Windows Live, it sucked and barely worked.PC gaming was honestly better when Microsoft (not Xbox) was more involved, Steam completely eradicated physical games, at least a ton of Games for Windows Live games got physical releases! Even the GTA 4 Games For Windows Live version with the physical CD for PC from 2013 STILL works today. GFWL got a lot of undeserved hate, and now PC gamers lost physical games forever. I hope you guys are happy

Sony have more options than MS. Sony would love Horizon, GoW and ratchet to launch on switch and its' 110 million owners.
No, last gen they had the media hating them, shills lying about them, a parent company in financial tatters, a shifting demographic, a stronger competitor and yet, despite that sold 120 million ps4s
This gen they have a fantastic, well designed piece of hardware, the best VR headset on the market, the entire home console market to themselves and a competitor that's about to leave the industry. Yet, they are porting games to PC to make up for poor sales, yes, a flagship AAA exclusive, one of very few that year, failing to sell to less than 20% of their console base is not a good sign.
Their studios are not giving the output required of them, save for insomniac and the other studios are doing what they want. Sony are following Microsoft's footsteps 1:1 and it won't end as well as you think it will.
Sony sold the PS5 on hype, hype that should have been easily delivered considering the pedigree and history of the Playstation brand. However, Sony haven't even lived up to their former glory and look like they will live someone's else's former misery.
I've been gaming on PC since 2002! Real PC gamers know the hate for GFWL was ALWAYS overblown by Valve fanboys and Gaben meatriders. And now look where that brought you people no physical games and worse sales. The MS push for Games For Windows Live was one of the worst time periods in PC gaming, it's easy to tell you don't play on PC. Digital distribution works on PC because it has multiple stores competing and also a massive pressure coming from how easy and popular piracy is. Gaben use to talk about that in the Steam early days.
On console that role is played by physical media and the used games market. What did MS tried to do the moment they felt they were on top with their console? Kill the used games market and enforce always on. They fucking suck and I want them as far away from gaming as possible.
Psh! This is nothing but a farce. PC gamers love to say this virtue signalling nonsense, but when a game is an Epic or Ubisoft exclusive, they do nothing but cry about it. "Not on Steam? Won't buy" You guys just use the "multiple store" crap as a talking point, but actually HATE the fact that there are multiple stores. How many games have you bought from GOG or Epic or Ubisoft or Origin? I'll wait. Keep cheering on monopolies, you're only hurting yourself.Digital distribution works on PC because it has multiple stores competing and also a massive pressure coming from how easy and popular piracy is. if you read in my original comment I literally said Microsoft (not Xbox), the way Microsoft handled PC gaming was much better than how Xbox handled console gaming. They weren't even the same teams. On console that role is played by physical media and the used games market. What did MS tried to do the moment they felt they had enough power to pull it off? This is more nonsense, physical games are dead on PC and piracy is still rampant. 90% of games are cracked day 1.Lmao gfwl sucked ass. Physical sales on pc died due to piracy, not because gfwl left steam with no competition.
Huh? Nowhere did I claim piracy went away lol? And physical games dying is something you don't "come back" from. The reality is piracy was on a huge upswing in the early 2000s and it drove physical games into the dirt. Everyone and their mom had a CD-RW drive (and eventually dvd-r) and a collection of burned mp3s and games. The idea that GFWL was a factor at all is laughable, it was barely a thing. This is more nonsense, physical games are dead on PC and piracy is still rampant. 90% of games are cracked day 1.
MS even tied graphics APIs to Windows versions they were always antagonistic to PC gaming while they believed Xbox was going somehwere only when it became clear Xbox failed that they came back with their tail between their legs with their still awful Xbox store and Gamepass.I've been gaming on PC since 2002!
